Written in year 12 for my Major work and as part of my successful Sydney Conservatory of Music Application.

This work was one of the first pieces I wrote that I imagined being the beginning of a jazz/rock musical. The Overture. As it was developed, it became its own Jazz band piece separate from the planned musical. The inspiration behind this piece came from the desire for power and therefore I wanted to make this piece like a battle between voices for expressive power. What better way to do it than through Jazz and Rock.

Written in year 12 for my Major work and as part of my successful Sydney Conservatory of Music Application.

I really love this piece as it's another track that I imagined writing for the protagonist of my Musical. I started writing this piece in year 10 and I closely relate it to myself at that age. I wanted to be a Music Director and the idea that I could be a creator in the sense of generating a whole performance was amazing. I really wanted to be heard as an artist at that age and I didn't feel that my dreams were given much attention. regardless of the amount of instruments or co-curricular I would interact with. I did and still do want to create a musical from the voice of young people and would love to collaborate with people more on this in the future.
